Please watch the full production of Stephen Sondheim's "Company" below. Whilst you are watching, take notes analysing the following:

1. What do you think is/are the main theme/s of the piece?

2. How have the following performance and production elements been used to communicate the theme

      -Set, props and staging

      -Costume, hair and make-up

      -Choreography and direction

      -Characterisation

      -Content

      -Dynamics

      -Music and lyrics

      -Lighting

3. From what you know of Sondheim so far, how do you think factors surrounding his upbringing and personal life affected his choices when writing the music and lyrics?

Homework: Research the background of "Company" and write approx. 300 words on the historical context of the show and any influences that inspired Sondheim to write the music and lyrics.
